A Message From Monica Ortiz

“Music can heal the heart, fuel the soul, begin a journey, bring you closure, bridge the widest of gaps, or inspire creativity and passion. Knowing that music is so powerful is why I have always kept it as a major part of my life.”

I knew I didn’t want to do the same old thing when I was asked to write a bio for this site. Instead, I decided to talk about my relationship with music and what it has really meant to me. So please keep reading and walk the journey of music with me…

Music can heal the heart, fuel the soul, begin a journey, bring you closure, bridge the widest of gaps, or inspire creativity and passion. Knowing that music is so powerful is why I have always kept it as a major part of my life.

When I was a little girl, I remember not just singing, but wanting to sing, dance, and entertain anyone who would watch. Seeing smiling faces made me happy, singing a fun or silly song to see someone laugh brought joy to me. When I went through breakups, turning to music to comfort me was second nature. Even if it’s just me in my own home, I celebrated victories with music, food, and dancing. Feeling the notes, chords, and lyrics permeate every bit of me and lift me up.

As an adult, you can tell when I am happy because I sing… in the grocery store, taking a walk, when a friend is sad and they need soothing, upon my daughter’s command (when she was young), and sometimes I don’t realize I am doing it. That is the beauty of my relationship with music, it is the message of the soul.

The importance of music to me is what inspires me to share it in such a personal way. With every song I write or perform, I want to sit with each person who is listening and share a moment of tenderness, happiness, understanding, comfort, and love.
